Paint the night

The revolution says:
On Saturday nights, you chant
Against the right for your rights to be “right”
All should rise
Shout out loud, paint signs proud
Put it on display for all their eyes.

The crown says:
On Saturday nights, you sit tight
If they attack, show tact
Stay discreet, don’t speak
Paint your nails and style your hair
Smile-on face shows you don’t care
It’s frowned upon to make a sound
Just keep it down
Until you drown.

The feminist says:
On Saturday nights, you fight
And you paint the whole town red
Scratch, kick, jab
Punch (don’t stab)
Scream so mean that it makes a scene
Till you’re primetime news on every screen.

You say:
On Saturday nights, you act
No tact, you use tactics
No shout, you read lips
No jabs, you do bumps
No heal, you unleash
A few lines of warpaint for protection
But the sweat drips off to show cracks
Tinker toy soldier broken doll
Plastic guise, dead in the eyes
It’s hollow in between your thighs
No soul, no control, just a hungry empty hole inside

I say:
Munch painted it with blue and red
Craven made it black and white
That silent scream I picture
Haunting bed into the night
I fly far
I sit tight
I rise
I fight
I play yes
I want no
I stay quiet
I scream silent
